Look who's 6 !!

Bradley's 6th birthday turned into a birthday bonanza weekend!!! John had been away in China for a few days, and wouldn't be back until teatime on Sat 8th. We'd already planned that his big classmate party was to be held on Sunday 9th at "KidsAtWork" - an indoor activity play centre. So on the Saturday, I decided to throw and small party for our friends and their little ones here at the house.

The big day started with present opening (obviously!!). Grandparents did a fantastic job of sending parcels in time, and they now know Bradley (& me) at Makati Central Post Office, because we've been so many times to collect presents!!! There was also a little (big!!) something from John, Adam and me for Bradley to open on the day, with the promise of him being able to choose any LEGO he wanted from the toy store that we had very recently found sold the stuff here in Manila!!

Connie & Lydia also bought Bradley a birthday present, which was really sweet of them, and it was a lovely present that we can all enjoy as a family - more on that in a later blog!!

After playing with the LEGO, and trying to put together a LEGO CITY police station, complete with prison cell for the little LEGO mini figure prisoners (oh yes!), I made a LEGO brick birthday cake, covered in red buttercream icing, and we waited for our friends to arrive. Our little teatime party was great fun, and I think (hope!) everyone enjoyed themselves. The children played games of "Find the LEGO man" (they had to search for body parts of a cardboard lego man and put it back together on their own card - Busy Tots mums will remember a similar "Find Santa" game I did for one of our Christmas parties a couple of years ago??), we had pass the parcel, build the tallest LEGO tower, and finally a game of musical statues, suggested by Bradley. I know some of you will be rather surprised to hear Bradley not only suggesting, but also taking part in a party game!!! He did insist on doing the music for pass the parcel, though, rather than taking part!! So he's not changed that much!!

The adults all seemed to have fun too, with our newly acquired games; table football, and air hockey!

John got home just in time to sing "Happy Birthday" and record the event on film!

Sunday morning, as promised, we took Bradley to a Toys R Us store in Manila, and we let him choose a LEGO CITY firestation for his birthday present from us. Then it was off to "Kids At Work" for the big party. They started off playing on all of the equipment, then they could have their faces painted. This was followed by organised party games by our party "host", candle blowing, "Happy Birthday" singing, eating, then more playing on the indoor equipment. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun, and he got spoiled rotten with all of the presents he received!!!

We got home, had a quick dinner, then allowed him to open his presents from his friends. Soon after that, it was bedtime, and they were both very tired little boys (so was I!!!). It was a shame though, that it was school the next day, because the film High School Musical 2 was on Disney channel, but it was just too late for him to watch it. For Bradley, that would have been the icing on the cake for his birthday weekend!!
